DOT DEED turns a domain name into something you can hold: a beautifully printed certificate, framed or rolled, that celebrates a piece of the internet. These terms cover how the service works, including ordering, printing, gifting, claiming a domain, refunds, and renewal. Short clauses, plain English, no walls of legalese.
The short version
DOT DEED designs and sells commemorative domain certificates. An order can contain two parts:
We're the platform that joins those pieces together. We're not a registrar ourselves, we don't host domains, and we don't run a printing press. We work with specialist partners who do those things properly.
Payment processing is provided by Stripe. Domain registration is provided as a reseller of ResellerClub. Printing and delivery is provided by Prodigi. Each partner's own terms also apply to their part of the service.
A DOT DEED certificate is a decorative, commemorative keepsake. It exists to be framed, displayed, gifted, and enjoyed, and we're proud of the craft that goes into it. It is not, and is not intended to be, a legal document.
A certificate is not legal proof of domain ownership, not a property deed or title, and not a trust instrument. It does not create, transfer, evidence, or affect ownership of any domain. Where a domain is involved, legal ownership is determined solely by the domain registrar's registration record and WHOIS/registration data, never by anything printed on a DOT DEED certificate. Certificates are not notarised, not filed with any government body, and carry no legal weight in any proceeding. If you need proof that you own a domain, use your registrar account and the public registration record.
Half the pleasure of a certificate is the ceremony of it: the seal, the typography, the phrasing. We lean into that on purpose, because it's what makes a piece worth framing.
Words such as "Registry", "Registry of Digital Estates", "Deed", "Digital Estate", "Certificate of Digital Ownership", "Trusteeship" and "seal", along with phrases like "by the authority vested in the Registry", are stylistic and branding language only. They do not refer to, and should not be read as referring to, any official, government-recognised, or legally constituted registry, authority, trust, or record-keeper. DOT DEED is not a domain registrar and is not a legal record-keeping authority. The only genuine registration record for a domain is the one held by the registrar and published through ICANN's registration data (WHOIS/RDAP) services.
All prices are in USD. Payment is handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Your order is confirmed once payment succeeds, and you'll receive an email with your order number and Registry ID.
By placing an order you authorise us to charge the total shown at checkout: the certificate service fee, printing, shipping, and any domain registration fee for the period you selected.
Prices shown at checkout are the prices you pay for that order. Import duties, customs charges, and local taxes on delivery are set by the destination country and are the recipient's responsibility. If a print or shipping quote changes materially before your order is placed, we'll show you the revised total first.
When you buy a domain through DOT DEED, we register it for you. Domains are registered with ResellerClub, an ICANN-accredited registrar, through DOT DEED's reseller account. That means DOT DEED is the reseller and ResellerClub is the registrar of record.
Until it is claimed, the domain is held in DOT DEED's holding account. When the recipient claims it, we either move it into their own ResellerClub customer account, with their own login, or hand over an EPP authorisation code so they can transfer it to a registrar of their choice.
You choose the registration period when you buy: one year by default, or longer where offered. The registration fee you pay covers that period only.
Renewal is the customer's responsibility. Once the period you selected ends, the domain must be renewed with the registrar. We do not set domains to auto-renew, and renewal fees are payable to the registrar rather than to us.
Domains are held subject to ResellerClub's terms and the policies of ICANN, which can change without notice. If a domain is not renewed in time it may be suspended, then deleted, and may become available to anyone. Recovering a lapsed domain can involve additional registrar fees, and we cannot guarantee it can be recovered at all. DOT DEED is not responsible for domain availability, registrar price changes, or the outcome of any transfer carried out between the recipient and their chosen registrar.
Gifting is what DOT DEED is for. Every certificate for a gifted domain ships with a QR code and a printed Registry ID in the form DEED-XXXX-XXXX.
How the recipient claims it:
How long they have: a gifted domain can be claimed for 12 months from the certificate issue date. We'd suggest claiming it straight away. The sooner it's in their name, the sooner it's theirs to build on.
If a gift is never claimed, the claim window closes and we may stop renewing the domain, which can allow it to lapse and be released to the open market. Because the certificate is custom-printed and the registration fee is paid to the registrar up front, an unclaimed gift certificate is not automatically refundable, but if a gift is heading that way, contact us before the window closes and we'll review the order individually. Whoever holds the QR code and Registry ID can claim the domain, so keep the certificate safe until it is claimed: we can't verify who the intended recipient is. Once a domain has been moved to a recipient's account we cannot reverse it.
Certificates are printed to order on premium fine-art paper by Prodigi, our print partner, and delivered either framed (ready to hang) or rolled in a protective tube. Shipping options and estimates are quoted live at checkout, and we email tracking details as soon as your certificate ships.
Delivery times are estimates from the carrier, not guarantees. DOT DEED is not liable for delays caused by the carrier, customs, or events outside our reasonable control.
Cancellation window: 1 hour. Change your mind within one hour of placing the order and we'll refund it in full, no questions asked, and cancel the print job with Prodigi.
After 1 hour. Your certificate goes straight into production, personalised with a name and domain that can't be resold, so orders can no longer be cancelled or refunded once printing has begun.
Damaged on arrival or misprinted. Email Fraser@frasergarner.com with a photo within 14 days of delivery and we'll arrange a free reprint and re-ship at no cost to you.
Lost in transit. Tell us and we'll send a free replacement.
Returns. Every certificate is custom-printed on demand, so we don't accept general returns and we can't take back a personalised print for a change of mind. Where something has gone wrong at the print stage, a free reprint is the remedy, and you won't need to send the faulty print back.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method and usually appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. Replacements are dispatched to the original shipping address unless you ask us otherwise. Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country that cannot be waived. If local law gives you a stronger remedy than this policy, local law wins.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of our services is limited to the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of a domain name, loss of business or profits, or distress, and we are not liable for the acts or omissions of our partners (Stripe, Prodigi, ResellerClub) beyond what the law requires. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
We collect what we need to fulfil your order (name, email address, shipping address, and order details) and share it only with the partners doing the work:

We may update these terms as the service evolves. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and continuing to use DOT DEED after a change means you accept the updated terms.

We retain order records in our database for order tracking and customer support. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing Fraser@frasergarner.com.
We share necessary data with Stripe, Prodigi, and ResellerClub only to the extent required to fulfill your order. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.
